Events 2011
On Monday 28th November we held the Advent Tea Dance Saturday 3rd December we held a Beaded Christmas Decorations course On Saturday 5th November we held our annual Craft Fair. This was a very successful event and well attended. Music was provided by the Hamilton Flute Band and the choir from Newbuildings Primary School. Entertainment for children included face painting and balloon making. Thanks to all who supported us. To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Centre we had events for members of the groups who meet each week in the Centre. It was possible to follow the week on Facebook – we updated our page regularly to let everyone know what was going on. We will also be having other events throughout the anniversary year. On Monday 7 March from 10.00am to 12.00pm we had a party atmosphere during refreshments at Toddlers and Others when we invited adults and children to celebrate the Anniversary with us. Monday evening at 7.00pm the patchwork and quilting group of Clooney Crafters celebrated with some special refreshments during their meeting. Tuesday 12.30 -3 pm is the Senior Citizens’ Luncheon Club. Come along and have your lunch (2 courses for only £2.50). There are various activities before lunch and you are welcome to stay for a time of hymn singing or a speaker after lunch. New members are welcome so why not come along and try it out. The luncheon club celebrated the anniversary on 8 March with a slice of cake after their lunch. Each Thursday from 2.30-4.30 pm we have the Clooney Crafters general crafting session. Organised on a club basis, you are invited to bring along your crafting project and work on it during the session. We invite members to show each other their favourite crafts so we all have the opportunity to gain new skills and knowledge. Demonstrations will be arranged in silk painting, jewellery making, card making and felting to name a few. Cost is £2 per session including refreshments which were cupcakes for the anniversary on 10 March. Although the numbers are very low at the minute, the craic is good and we all are learning and developing new skills from each other. We are working towards a crafting exhibition in a few months’ time when we will invite members of both craft groups to exhibit items they have made.
